Amazon Elastic Block Store is a persistent service that allows you to store the data from Amazon EC2 Instances in a distinct virtual storage device automatically replicated within its Availability Zone. With Amazon EBS, you can add more storage or increase performance (with Amazon EBS Provisioned IOPS) whenever you need. You can detach an EBS device fromo an instance and move it to other instances whenever you want, in this way you can keep data and instances totally separated in your infrastructure.
Cloud Academy has a rich library of content to learn how to use Amazon EBS and test your knowledge about it.
