Mindset over Method

Importantly, the Agile Manifesto does not prescribe a specific methodology or framework. Instead, it proposes a mindset that teams should adopt.

Many organisations will say that they 'do Agile', but many only provide lip service to the values and principles of the Agile Manifesto. To make sure that teams fully embrace an Agile mindset, it's important to have agile leaders at every level. This means that, no matter where you are, a team member can see Agile in action.

The Agile ways of working are not only supported by the Agile Manifesto but also by a set of frameworks. These Agile frameworks were created to develop and deliver products and services using the Agile mindset. They all have several shared characteristics, which include:

Iterative development (plan, do, check, act)
Incremental delivery
Stakeholder engagement
Team-focused
Creation of a prioritised wish-list (often called a product backlog)
