In this course, you will be presented with AWS Systems Manager as a collection of features that allow you to manage your machine fleet at scale in AWS. You can also manage it in your own data center or even other cloud platforms. AWS Systems Manager helps you automatically implement complex workflows related to your machine deployment, configuration, updates, and life cycle. You can view and control your infrastructure from a single point of access for management.

As of this writing, AWS Systems Manager includes over 20 different features, all of them intended to permit you to consolidate your machine operations into dashboards, supporting Linux, Windows, and Mac OS operating systems. Dashboards provide you contextual information, guidance, and solution steps to common issues like software updates and patches.

In this module, we will review AWS Systems Manager basic features, including the Systems Manager Agent Software, that is a required component. We will discuss Patch Manager and State Manager as a mechanism to automate configuration and keep your instances configured the way you need them. This course is intended for architects, developers, and system operators, looking for a unified, scalable, and secure way to automate their machine maintenance workloads or multiple operating systems, and for Amazon EC2 instances.

This course also covers some of the objectives for both the Solutions Architect Associate Certification exam, and SysOps Administrator Associate Certification exam. In this course, you will learn about Systems Manager and how it's configured to connect, collect inventory, execute commands, apply patches, and maintain the state of machines in terms of configuration and swapper modules installed. This can be applied to any management and can be run on any number of machines across a variety of operating systems.

In terms of prerequisites, in order to get the most out of this course, you will need to meet the requirements for the AWS Cloud Practitioner Certification and preferably one of the AWS Associate Level Certifications.
