Azure Logic Apps simplifies the design and build out of scalable on-prem and cloud-based solutions for integration, data integration, system integration, enterprise application integration, or EAI, and business to business communications. Using Azure Logic Apps, you can automate workloads such as the processing and routing of product orders across on-prem systems and cloud services. You can also use Azure Logic Apps as a monitoring system to send email alerts from Office 365 to notify you when specific events occur in various systems or applications. With a gallery of over 200 connectors at your disposal, you can build enterprise-class integration solutions using Azure Logic Apps. So how exactly does Azure Logic Apps work? Well, for starters, all logic apps are deployed and run in the cloud on Microsoft Azure. Every logic app workflow is going to start with a trigger. The trigger is the mechanism that fires when a defined event occurs. It might also fire when some new data meets a set of defined criteria. Triggers will typically include some basic form of scheduling capabilities. This is so you can specify how often your workloads run. When a trigger fires, a logic app instance is created by the logic app engine. This logic app instance then runs whatever actions are defined in the workflow. Such actions will often include things like data conversions or flow controls that include conditional statements, loops and the like. A good example of a logic app would be a process that's part of a data flow that checks to see if a record is updated. In this example, if a trigger sees an event that indicates a particular record has been updated, the trigger then fires and runs some set of defined workflow actions.
