Welcome to Creating and Managing Power BI Workspaces. This course is designed to help students learn how Workspaces integrate within the Power BI service and how content is created and deployed to these environments. It will also highlight a few ways in which users can interact with content that has been deployed and is ready for consumption.

Let's have a look at what you can expect in this course. My name is Steven Wise, and I'll be guiding you through a number of topics around creating and managing Power BI workspaces. I'm currently a solutions architect and have been using Power BI in various capacities since 2015. In my current and previous jobs, I have created and delivered Power BI reports to large enterprise organizations and have guided their strategy in how to use the program properly and effectively.

Who is the intended audience for this particular course? Well, first and foremost, this course is designed for individuals that are working with Power BI. It offers a deep dive into many of the features of the program. This course is specifically designed to help individuals pass Microsoft's Power BI Certification assessment.

Users taking this assessment should have reasonable experience working with Power BI. They will find this course to supplement what they already know and support them in areas where they may need more help. Of course, not everyone uses every part of Power BI out of the gate. So this course will also support anyone looking to improve their understanding of the entire Power BI program.

Let's take a look at the course objectives for Creating and Managing Power BI workspaces. Throughout these lectures, we will understand the function and purpose of Power BI workspaces. We'll accomplish this through lectures and demonstrations. We'll also review deployment strategies for Power BI content. This is how we get content from our development environment to in front of business users. We'll also review how to promote, secure and subscribe to Power BI content saved in the Power BI service. There are a few prerequisites worth noting.

First, if you are taking this course, you should already be familiar with and using Power BI Desktop to design and build basic Power BI reports. You should also have experience interacting with the Power BI service. This is the web-based part of Power BI, where reports are saved and users eventually interact with them. Last, you should be curious and inquisitive about how to best utilize the feature set within Power BI. The product team is always building and iterating on Power BI. So it's important to always keep that attitude of wanting to learn more.

Let's have a look at the agenda for this course content. We'll be stepping through nine modules related to Power BI workspaces. In the first lecture group, Creating and Interacting with Workspaces, we'll cover creating and configuring a workspace, assigning workspace roles, publishing, importing, and updating assets in a workspace, and configuring and updating a workspace app. In the next section titled Deployment Strategies in Power BI, we'll recommend a development lifecycle strategy, as well as look at how to use deployment pipelines.

In the second half of the course, we'll look at securing and labeling Power BI workspace content. This includes applying sensitivity labels to workspace content, and promoting and certifying that content. In the last section titled Extending Power BI Reports, we'll look at how to configure subscriptions. Finally, we'll have a small summary course review.
