Welcome to the Solutions Architect–Associate on AWS Learning Path. Find out what to expect from the courses, labs, and quizzes you will find here, and how it will help you prepare for your certification exam.
In Feb 2018 AWS released an updated version of the Solution Architect Associate Exam. We've built a learning path around this new exam guide which is available here.
Up until August 2018 you have a choice about which exam you sit - the previous version or the new version.
Watch this video for an update on the differences and advice on which exam to choose.

Hello, hello, hello! Welcome to the Cloud Academy Solutions Architect Certification Learning Path. My name is Andy, and I'm here with Eric and Dave to help you learn and get prepared for passing the AWS Solutions Architect Associates Certification Exam.
If you want to demonstrate that you want to effectively design and manage application infrastructure using AWS, then earning AWS' own Solutions Architect Associate Level Certification is the best place to start. Now, I've helped many people get AWS trained and certified in previous roles, and I know AWS certification exams can seem a little daunting at first. But if you do the preparation, and spend time in the console, getting familiar with AWS services, you can pass the Solution Architect certification exam.
We're here to help you achieve this, so this learning path is built around the four domains described in the AWS exam guide. So you could be sure you're well prepared for the test. There's gonna be a number of us presenting content and it may feel like we say things more than once in different ways. That's us trying to leverage every possible learning technique to help you take in and understand what we think you need to know for the AWS certification exam. Everybody learns in different ways, so you can run your videos at faster or slower paces if that's what you prefer. And of course, you can stop, come back and review anything that you feel you need to hear again.
We'll review some sample exam questions during the courses to help us learn to troubleshoot and problem solve. And between courses, we have great labs and quizzes to help you learn and check where your understanding. The quizzes we have are fantastic for sharpening up your subject matter expertise. And they have links to relevant documentation if you wanna find out more, or you feel like there's more you'd like to know about a particular topic.
So here's how content will be structured, to help you get from here to certified. There are four courses with labs and quizzes in between to help you build your confidence and knowledge. We'll start off with the Solutions Architect Associate Foundations course. And this course is designed to walk you through the AWS compute storage and service offerings that you need to be familiar with for the AWS Solutions Architect Associate Exam. The course provides you with snap shots of each service and covers just what you need to know. It's a good high level starting point for exam preparation.
Then, in course two, we learn how to design highly available, cost efficient, fault tolerant solutions. As the exam guide outlines that 60% of the exam questions could be from this topic. And this is where we'll get to understand elasticity and scalability, and how we can use AWS services to design highly available, fault tolerant solutions. We learn how to follow best practices for planning, designing, and monitoring in the cloud and how to identify and recognize cloud architecture considerations such as functional components to use and what are effective designs. And we learn how to recognize recovery point, recovery time objectives.
Then in course three, we do a deep dive into data security. And the exam guide outlines that data security could make up to 20% of the Solutions Architect Associate exam questions. So the data security course aims to get you up to speed with the core concepts we think you need to know. Now we learn how to recognize and implement secure procedures for optimum cloud deployment and maintenance, including understanding the shared responsibilities security model. IAM policies and roles, and recognizing how to secure data at rest and at transit.
So, in course four we design and implement a highly available solution. From end to end, to solidify our knowledge, and remind ourselves of some of the key points that we need to remember about implementation and deployment. Okay, let's get started!
