Description

Microsoft Azure is a collection of online services that organizations can use to build, host, and deliver applications. You don’t need to have your own data center because Azure runs in Microsoft’s data centers around the world. Not only does this approach save you the trouble of having to build and maintain your own on-premises IT infrastructure, but it can also save you money because you only have to pay for what you use, and you can scale your Azure resources up and down as needed.

In this course, you will not only get an overview of the Azure services available in various categories, such as compute, storage, and networking, but you will also follow hands-on examples showing you how to create virtual machines and web apps using the Azure Portal and Azure command-line interface.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe some of the Azure services available in various categories
  • Use the Azure Portal
  • Use the Azure command line

Intended Audience

  • Anyone who would like to learn more about Azure

Prerequisites

  • General technical knowledge
  • A Microsoft Azure account is recommended (sign up for free trial at https://azure.microsoft.com/free if you don’t have an account)

Welcome to Overview of Azure Services. My name's Guy Hummel and I'm a Microsoft-certified Azure Expert. If you have any questions, feel free to connect with me on LinkedIn and send me a message, or send an email to support@cloudacademy.com.

This course is an introduction to Microsoft Azure. It'll give you a broad overview of the types of services available in Azure without going too deeply into any of them.

This course is intended for anyone who'd like to learn more about Azure, so you don't need to have any experience with it before taking this course. It would be helpful to have some general technical knowledge though because I don't explain basic terms like file server or operating system.

The best way to learn is by doing, so I recommend that you try performing these tasks yourself on your own Azure account. If you don't already have one, then you can create a free trial account.

To save you the trouble of typing in the URLs and commands shown in this course, I've put them in a readme file in a GitHub repository. You can find a link to the repository at the bottom of the Overview tab below this video.

By the end of this course, you should be able to describe some of the Azure services available in various categories, use the Azure Portal, and use the Azure command line. We'd love to get your feedback on this course, so please give it a rating when you're finished.

Now, if you're ready to learn about what you can do with Microsoft Azure, then let's get started.
