Transcript

Hello, and welcome to this learning path, my name is Stuart Scott and I’m the AWS Content Director here at Cloud Academy.

I’ve designed this content to help you get the most from the re:Invent session entitled STG317: Amazon EBS volumes and performance monitoring with Amazon CloudWatch.

As highlighted by AWS, in this chalk talk you’ll learn how Amazon EBS volumes and Amazon EC2 instances can help you achieve high performance, scalability, and availability for your business-critical workloads. You’ll see configurations that can help you achieve high availability, performance (IOPS), and bandwidth. Also learn how to improve the operational performance and resource optimization of Amazon EBS with Amazon CloudWatch, a monitoring and observability service built to provide you with data and actionable insights to monitor your applications, respond to system-wide performance changes, optimize resource utilization, and get a unified view of operational health.

So if you are responsible for monitoring, optimization, and performance, then this is a great session to take providing you with an opportunity to gain some great insights!

To support this session, I have curated this customized learning path which can be broken down into 3 distinct sections.

Firstly we have a series of courses and hands-on labs to help you understand the fundamentals of Amazon CloudWatch and Amazon EBS which will be discussed during the re:Invent session to allow you to follow the concepts mentioned. This will make it easier to absorb information in the session that follows, enabling you to understand the insights and key takeaways during the talk at a greater level.

Next, we have the re:Invent ChalkTalk session itself which you can attend or view.

And then after you have taken this session by AWS, I have compiled additional content that I recommend that you focus on to enable you to build on the knowledge gained throughout the learning path, again this will be a series of courses and hands-on labs, which will end with a challenge lab.  This additional and more advanced content will help to develop your skills in this area even further, and with more confidence!

If you have any questions as you progress through our content, feel free to connect with me with any questions using the details shown on the screen. Alternatively, you can always get in touch with us here at Cloud Academy by sending an e-mail to support@cloudacademy.com where one of our cloud experts will reply to your question.

Ok, let’s get started!
