Description

If you have an understanding of what Cloud Computing is and are now wondering if this technology could benefit you and your business, then this Course will help you determine if a cloud migration is right for your organization.

We will look at Cloud Computing from the business perspective and understand what it can bring to your organization. We will cover a number of different topics to try and answer the question, "Should your business move to the Cloud?" By understanding where your business is going, what you trying to achieve, and your objectives, you will be able to establish an effective Cloud business strategy.

By looking at what the Cloud can bring to a business you will be able to define the reasons or reasons not to migrate to the Cloud. We shall cover the benefits that the Cloud can bring with a business mindset rather than a technical approach by looking at examples of how these can enhance your processes, progress, and development.

It is also important to understand where constraints of the Cloud exist to allow you to weigh the positives against the negatives. We also look at potential ways of alleviating these constraints to reduce their impact.

Depending on the size of your organization, this Course looks at the different use cases each may adopt. Not all businesses are looking for the same solutions, and these could be very different depending on if you are a Small-to-Medium business (SMB), a large Enterprise, or a new Start-Up.

Hello and welcome to this course when looking at cloud computing from a business perspective one of the biggest questions is should the business move to the cloud. The following lectures have been designed to lead you on your way in answering that very question.

My name is Stuart Scott, I'm one of the trainers here at CloudAcademy specializing in AWS, Amazon Web Services. I will be leading you through this course to help you gain the knowledge required to decide if your business should move or migrate some or all of its services to the cloud.

Before we begin let's take a look at who this course is aimed at. It's been designed to allow business managers and business decision makers to ascertain if it's the right business choice to migrate services to the cloud. If you have a part to play in IT strategy within your business then this course will help you ask the right questions internally to guide your solutions in a positive direction for your organization.

Let's take a look at what we'll cover. So this course is broken down into the following lectures. Is the Cloud Right for you? So here we'll ask what your trying to achieve and what your objectives are along with what the cloud can do for you.

Then we'll look at what benefits the cloud can bring to your business. And in a similar fashion we'll also take a look at some of the constraints involved.

We'll then talk through some of the use cases from different organization types such as small to medium businesses, enterprises, and start ups.

Then finally we shall recap on what we have covered. For any students taking this course it is important to me that you take something valuable away.

So on completion of these lectures you'll have the knowledge to confidently discuss the reasons behind why or why not the cloud is right for your business as a strategy. You'll be able to steer stakeholders and ultimately decide if moving to the cloud is right for your business and its IT solutions and why.

There's a couple of prerequisites to this course firstly to have a basic understanding of cloud computing if you don't currently have this then please review our existing course, What is Cloud Computing? And secondly a knowledge and understanding of Capex and Opex.

That brings us to the end of this lecture. Coming up next we will look at the question head on, Is the cloud right for you?
