The course is part of these learning paths
This course, covering Amazon Cloudwatch subscriptions unveils a hidden feature within Cloudwatch, that will allow you to dive into your log files and analyze them for specific keywords.
Learning Objectives
- Create your own CloudWatch log subscription
- Search through your log files to find bits and bobs of details that are of interest to you
Intended Audience
This course should be attended by anyone who wants a deeper understanding of CloudWatch and all of the hidden features it offers, especially log analysis and visualization.
Prerequisites
To get the most out of this course, you should already have a solid understanding of CloudWatch and know how log files are created and sent into CloudWatch through various means.
Cloudwatch Subscriptions give you the power to search through your logs and extract high-value items by matching specific keywords or phrases. From there we have the ability to capture that data and push it into many other outside services. Services such as Lambda, Kinesis Data Firehouse Streams, or Kinesis streams.
By funneling your log data into these destinations, you can transform, transact, and even visualize the information that is important to you.
This information can even be shared across accounts, enabling multi-account strategies and increased cooperation between entities.
Overall this means you can have higher visibility into your environments, and have the ability to react to change when the need arises.
For example, You could even set up automated systems that check for errors within your logs, to know when an application is beginning to fail. Allow you to get ahead of a crash or downtime, instead of being purely reactive when the whole service fails
