Description

This course covers Ansible automation for SAP. We'll start off with introductions to both SAP and Ansible and then we'll present the use cases of automation with Ansible that we have built for SAP. You'll then be guided through a demonstration of an end-to-end deployment of SAP HANA and SAP applications like NetWeaver and S4/HANA.

Learning Objectives

  • Learn the fundamentals of what SAP and Ansible are and how they work
  • Learn how to patch SAP landscapes
  • Understand SAP HANA and SAP Netweaver maintenance
  • Automate the deployment of SAP S/4HANA databases with Ansible Tower
  • Automate the creation of SAP HANA and SAP S/4HANA Pacemaker Clusters
  • Automate the migration of SAP workloads from SUSE Linux Enterprise Server to Red Hat Enterprise Linux
  • Learn how to carry out SAP Application Server Autoscaling

Intended Audience

This course is intended for anyone who wants to learn how to learn how Ansible automation can be used with their SAP workloads.

Transcript

Hello and thanks for joining. My name is Ricardo Garcia and I am an SAP Basis Administrator and Solutions Architect. I have been working in the SAP world since 2004 doing various tasks managing systems and designing solutions not only centered on SAP but also extended to the architecture that make SAP workloads more performant. So, in the data centers and working on high availability, I have been working with Red Hat since October 2019 and here while I am still focused on SAP solution and SAP workloads, I am doing many other things.

So, namely I am focused on automation and trying to bring together Red Hat's portfolio to create solutions to make life with SAP systems easier. So, in this course or in this training, we are going to see how we can combine Ansible Automation and Ansible platform that is the solution of Red Hat to automate everything in the IT world together with SAP. So, first of all we will talk a bit about what SAP is and for those of you who still haven't had the opportunity to work with it, even if it has been around for quite a few years.

Also we'll be doing an introduction about Ansible and then we'll present the use cases of Automation with Ansible that we have built for SAP and then we'll do some demos. So, for example we will build an end-to-end deployment of SAP HANA and  SAP applications like NetWeaver or S4/HANA on top of it. So, to demonstrate how easy it is to do it with just one click and how repeatable it is and how less prone to errors when we automate all this. We will also add another layer of high availability because that's very important mostly for productive systems and that is something that I have been working a lot with as well and on high availability mainly for SAP. So, we will show all this to give you the tools to get started in Automation with SAP.
