Hello and welcome to Azure Identity Concepts. My name is Lee Mucciarone, and I'm a Microsoft 365 content creator for Cloud Academy. I have four years of IT experience working for Microsoft with two years of specialized experience as a customer training specialist training users on Microsoft tools. Organizations today go through many leaps and bounds to ensure that their data is kept safe, and arguably the most important factor in keeping this data safe is having a firm understanding of the concept of identity. Identity can be referring to many different things, and as such, it is imperative users understand how this identity pertains to them. So, today we'll be going over some basic identity concepts as they pertain to security and Azure. Specifically, we'll be covering the following topics: the concepts of authentication, authorization, and federation. What exactly is an identity and an identity provider? The concepts of directory services and active directories, and the concept of the primary security perimeter. Now that we understand what we'll be covering in the course, let's start off simple with the concepts of authentication, authorization, and federation.
Lee has spent most of his professional career learning as much as he could about PC hardware and software while working as a PC technician with Microsoft. Once covid hit, he moved into a customer training role with the goal to get as many people prepared for remote work as possible using Microsoft 365. Being both Microsoft 365 certified and a self-proclaimed Microsoft Teams expert, Lee continues to expand his knowledge by working through the wide range of Microsoft certifications.
