Description

Azure Resource Manager Virtual Machines

Virtual Machines are a very foundational and fundamental resource in Cloud Computing. Deploying virtual machines gives you more flexibility and control over your cloud infrastructure and services, however, it also means you have more responsibility to maintain and configure these resources. This course gives you an overview of why use virtual machines as well as how to create, configure, and monitor VMs in Azure Resource Manager.

Transcript

Let’s start off by building a basic Azure virtual machine and connect to it. As you can see I have my Azure subscription setup and I’ve accessed the portal via https://portal.azure.com.

Let’s select “New” to access the Azure Marketplace. Since we are interested in Azure virtual machines which is part of what Azure calls Compute, we will select Compute -> See all. As you can see there are tons of items here we can use to build virtual machines. The easiest way to find what you’re looking for is to type in the “Search Compute” box the item you’re looking for.

By the way, in the Azure portal each of these windows that slide out are called “Blades”, and as we open more blades, Microsoft calls this a “Journey.”
