This course focuses on some of the common disaster recovery strategies designed to help your organization recover from an incident that has affected your AWS environment. Adopting a DR strategy helps to reduce the impact on your organization following a disaster. You should always plan and prepare for the worst and design a business continuity plan that is appropriate for the systems that you will need to restore.

The objectives of this course are to provide you with an understanding of:

  • Recovery Time Objective (RTO)
  • Recovery Point Objective (RPO)
  • DR strategies, including:
    • Backup & Restore
    • Pilot Light
    • Warm Standby
    • Multi-Site

Intended Audience

This course has been designed for architects who are responsible for designing a DR and business continuity strategy to help maintain a level of high availability within their infrastructure.

Prerequisites

As a prerequisite to this course, you should have a basic understanding of AWS VPC architecture.

Hello and welcome to this course, which is going to focus on some of the common disaster-recovery strategies, designed to help your organization recover from an incident that has affected your AWS environment.

By adopting a DR strategy, it helps to reduce the impact your organization following a disaster. You should always plan and prepare for the worst and design a business continuity plan that is appropriate for the systems that you will need to restore. The strategy you choose will depend on your design, criticality, and importance that the solution has on your business. 

Andrew Larkin, our VP of Content will introduce you to the following topics within this course: RTO Recovery Time Objective, RPO Recovery Point Objective, and DR strategies including Backup and Restore, Pilot Light, Warm Standby and Multi-Site.

The objectives of this course are to find you with an understanding of some of the common DR Strategies adopted when utilizing AWS infrastructure and the benefits of each method.
