Description

In this section of the AWS Certified: SAP on AWS Specialty learning path, we introduce you to the various Compute services currently available in AWS that are relevant to the PAS-C01 exam.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify the various Compute services available in AWS
  • Define the different families within AWS Compute services
  • Identify the purpose of load balancers and Elastic Load Balancing
  • Understand how Auto Scaling can enable your Compute resources to scale elastically based on varying levels of demand
  • Identify supported EC2 instance types for SAP on AWS

Prerequisites

The AWS Certified: SAP on AWS Specialty certification has been designed for anyone who has experience managing and operating SAP workloads. Ideally you’ll also have some exposure to the design and implementation of SAP workloads on AWS, including migrating these workloads from on-premises environments. Many exam questions will require a solutions architect level of knowledge for many AWS services, including AWS Compute services. All of the AWS Cloud concepts introduced in this course will be explained and reinforced from the ground up.

Transcript

Hello, and welcome to this course on Compute in AWS, where we’re here to help you on your journey to prepare for the AWS Certified: SAP on AWS Specialty certification.

Before we get started, I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Danny Jessee, and I am one of the trainers here at Cloud Academy, specializing in AWS – Amazon Web Services – and AWS certifications. In this course, the AWS team will be presenting a series of lectures that introduce the various compute services currently available in AWS that may be covered on the exam. Feel free to contact me with any questions using the details shown on the screen, or you can always get in touch with us here at Cloud Academy by sending an email to support@cloudacademy.com, where one of our Cloud experts will reply to your question.

This course has been specifically curated to help you pass the AWS Certified: SAP on AWS Specialty exam and is ideal for anyone who is looking to learn more about the various Compute services in AWS in preparation for the exam.

The objective of this course is to provide a high-level introduction to Compute services in AWS, including:

  • Elastic Compute Cloud, or EC2;
  • The Elastic Container Service, also known as ECS;
  • The Elastic Container Registry, or ECR; and
  • The Elastic Kubernetes Service, known as EKS.

We’ll also introduce the concept of EC2 Auto Scaling, which allows you to handle changing levels of demand for your EC2 instances. Then we’ll discuss Elastic Load Balancing, along with the different types of load balancers you can provision within the AWS Cloud to make your SAP application deployments more robust and highly available.

Next, we’ll introduce you to AWS Lambda, which lets you run code without provisioning or managing servers. And finally, we’ll wrap up the course with a discussion of EC2 instances for SAP on AWS.

Together with the other courses in this learning path, we’ll cover all of the key tools, technologies, and concepts from the AWS Certified: SAP on AWS Specialty exam guide and ensure that you are fully prepared to sit this exam.
