Transcript

Hello and welcome to implementing Microsoft Exchange Online Archiving Policies. My name is Lee Mucciarone, and I'm a Microsoft 365 content creator for Cloud Academy. I have four years of IT experience working for Microsoft with two years of specialized experience as a customer training specialist, training users on Microsoft tools. As many people are aware, Exchange empowers its organizations with the ability to archive items within their mailboxes using retention policies. Organizations' needs for attention vary depending upon their business, and as such, understanding how to enable, create, and adjust these policies is an important piece of managing your organization's overall compliancy.

Today, we'll be taking a look at how to start managing your archiving policies within your Microsoft Exchange mailboxes. Specifically, we'll be covering the following topics: The basics of retention policies, retention tags, and Messaging Records Management, how to activate and enable archive mailboxes in Exchange, how to create new retention policies and retention tags, and how to assign retention policies to a user's mailbox. Now that we know what we'll be covering within the course, let's start off with the basics of messaging records management.
