- [Jeremy Cook] Working with boolean variables and values is fairly self explanatory. The only unobvious fact when dealing with boolean variables is their zero value, the value that they default to when they are not explicitly initialized and in this case, as shown on line eight, they default to false. Line nine declares two boolean variables, isFast and hasFourWheels, set to false and true respectively, all within a single declaration. Lines 11, 12, and 13 simply print out their current values. Lines 15, 16, and 17 demonstrate the various boolean logic operators and their results.
The if statements declared on lines 19 to 21 and 23 to 25 emphasize control flow using the if statement. When we run this application we get the following results.
In summary, you've observed: how to declare a boolean data typed variable, that a the zero value for a boolean based variable is false, how to declare multiple variables of the same data type in a single statement, how to use various boolean based logic operators, the exclamation mark, the double ampersand, and the double pipe, and how to use boolean variables within if statements to implement control flow.
