While reports are anchored in one data model or one dataset, dashboards can contain visuals from any number of datasets. We can hand-select specific metrics from a variety of sources to compile a collection of insights that cater to the needs of a specific purpose. For instance, our director would like to see some of our client account information side-by-side with some of our Sales details. We don't usually have that information in the same data model, but we can definitely pull those metrics from different data models into one dashboard.

We will start by accessing the report where we can find the sales metrics. After we identify the metrics we want, we can simply pin them using this pin icon that appears when we hover over a report. We can pin this to an existing dashboard or we can create a new one. Our director wanted a new dashboard made for them, just for these metrics, so let's choose new dashboard. And let's give it a name and click pin. We'll get a popup in the upper right, and we could click to go to this dashboard right now, or we can navigate to it later by selecting my workspace and opening the dashboard from here. And there's our pin! So I can navigate to as many different data sources as we need and pin all the visuals that are relevant for this dashboard.
