Transcript

Power BI is a suite of features offered by Microsoft to help regular people like you and me perform high-quality business intelligence analysis, gain insights ourselves, and provide access to those analyses and insights to the rest of our organization. My name is Chelsea Dohemann and I am a certified Microsoft Office Master and have been training people on how to use Power BI since it was just a group of Excel add-ins. Feel free to connect with me at the link on the screen, or if you have any questions about this course or any other Cloud Academy courses, direct those queries to support@cloudacademy.com.

The only prerequisite for this module is an interest in Power BI. When you've completed the course, please do take a moment to rate it, as this valuable feedback helps us deliver high-quality training to you.

In this module, we're learning about the capabilities of Power BI. As part of our adventure, we will be identifying the primary components of Power BI, learning to use visuals and filters, learning our way around the Power BI desktop, and understanding the difference between dashboards, workspaces and reports. We will need to learn how to bring in our data, clean it up and transform it so that our insights will be accurate and meaningful. We will also be learning about usage for some of the custom visuals, including custom charts and custom controls, which allow us to graduate beyond the default visualizations. And then we are gonna learn to create that high-value buzzword, the dashboard. Let's get started.
