LAB B – Viewing signatures
In this lab you will view application signatures.
The lab duration will be 10 minutes.
- On your Windows 11 VM, using file explorer, browse to C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer.
- Right-click on iexplore and select Properties.
- Select the Digital Signature tab in the pop-up.
- Pick a signature in the list then select Details, then View Certificate in the resulting pop-up.
NOTE: Notice that as this is a Microsoft application the signature is issued to and by Microsoft.
- Navigate to the downloads on your hosts download folder and repeat the process for the ccsetupxxx file. When you have, open the certificate (click on the View Certificate button), click on the Certification Path tab. Note the name of the certificate at the top (the root certificate).
- Open the certificate manager (click on the Search icon and enter certificate, then click on Manage computer certificates). See if you can find the root certificate you identified in the previous step.
