Hi dear friends. In this video, we will install Java EE JDK 7 and Eclipse Neon 3. Let's open the browser. I will use the Google but you can use any browser you want. I am going to search for Java EE 7 JDK. I want the source to include JDK as well. Okay, I am just scrolling a bit and find EE packages with JDK. I am opening download page of Oracle and on this page, I am scrolling a bit and I select Mac OS X installer package. It heads me to a single sign on page because you need to have an Oracle account, if you want to download a Java installer package. I am entering related info. If you don't have an account, don't worry. It's free and quite simple. You can get a new one by clicking create account on this page. When I log in, the download starts immediately. Now, I am going to download Eclipse Neon 3 for development environment. I am going to download Neon 3 version because I have issues with newer version of Eclipse when integrating GlassFish. I just write download Eclipse Neon 3 in the search bar.
I opt for the first option of search result. It redirects me Eclipse download page. I click on Eclipse IDE for Java EE developers, Mac OS 64-bit option. It starts to download the package. And last, I am downloading JDK 8. It is needed for installation GUI of Java EE 7. Now, let's write the download JDK in the search bar. After pressing the enter key, I open the first of the results, namely the Java download Oracle page. On this page, I will click the Java archive tab here. I will scroll down this page. We will install the Java SE 8 8u211 and later version. I will scroll down this page. We can see the download options of the JDK 8. From here, we can download the appropriate JDK for our computer. Since my operating system is Mac OS 64-bit, I chose the JDK 8u333 Mac OS X 64.dmg option from here. Also at this stage, we need to confirm the licensing agreement. As you can see the download has started. The download may take some time depending on your internet speed. Therefore, I am stopping the screen recording here and when the download is complete, we will continue where we left off. Okay, all downloads finished. First, I will close all tabs and now I will open the downloads folder. I start the installation operation with JDK 8. I will double click on this dmg folder.
And as you can see the setup wizard was opened. I double click on this box to start the installation. In this window, I click the continue button and I click the install button. At this stage, the operating system asks you to enter the system password. After entering the password, I click the install software button and the installation process has begun. This process may take some time. Okay, the installation is finished. I click the close button to close this wizard and you can click the move to trash button and now, I'm going to install Java EE 7 package. As you can see, this is a shell file. For this, we will run it using the terminal. I will open the terminal. First, I will go to the downloads directory using the cd Downloads command. Then I will use this command, chmod 755 and I paste the file name here. For this, I will copy this file name and paste it here. Here, only will be the name file, not the file path. Okay, now this file is an executable file. Let's execute it. I will paste the final path here and press enter.
But as you can see it says, this program requires display environment variable to be set. Please rerun after assigning an appropriate value to display. To achieve this, I will use this command DISPLAY=:0./ and after this command, I will paste the file name again and press enter and as you can see, the Java EE 7 installation has started. Okay, now click next. Select typical installation. Don't change installation location, leave it default. No need to install update tool, so uncheck the box. Press install to start installation. Okay, now click next and then click exit. Now, it's time to extract Eclipse IDE. I double click on it. It extracts the Eclipse up here. Okay, now we can open Eclipse, I double click on it. When starting, we have to choose a workspace for our projects. Select the location it's offering or adjust it for yourself. Eclipse IDE is opened. Let me maximize it. We can see Eclipse version by Eclipse about Eclipse. Let's change default JRE for Eclipse. Because we installed it using JDK 8, it accepted JRE 1.8 as default.
First, I will uncheck this box because I don't want to open this page every time and I will close this welcome page. Okay, now I click the Eclipse tab and select the preferences menu. In the search field, I write JRE and select the installed JREs. As you can see here, the default version is 1.8. I will change it now, I click add button. Select Standard VM and click next. Click directory to select desired JDK. It is located in the user. Your pc name GlassFish 4 JDK 7. Here, I select the JRE folder and click the open button and click finish. Here, click the box near the JDK 7 to make it default and then press the apply button and then the okay button. Okay friends, we installed Java EE 7 and Eclipse Neon 3 Development Environment successfully.
