Description

In this section of the AWS Certified Advanced Networking - Specialty learning path, we introduce you to the OSI model and TCP/IP protocol suite and how they are used in AWS network architectures that are relevant to the ANS-C01 exam.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify and describe the seven layers of the OSI model
  • Define network architectures based on the OSI model and TCP/IP protocols
  • Understand the purpose of jumbo frames, including when and how to configure them
  • Explain important features of the IPv4 protocol, including CIDR, reserved addresses, subnetting, and addressing modes such as unicast and multicast

Prerequisites

The AWS Certified Advanced Networking - Specialty certification has been designed for anyone with experience designing, implementing, and operating complex AWS and hybrid networking architectures. Ideally, you’ll also have some exposure to the nuances of AWS networking, particularly regarding the integration of AWS services and AWS security best practices. Many exam questions will require advanced level knowledge of many AWS services, including AWS networking services. The AWS Cloud concepts introduced in this course will be explained and reinforced from the ground up.

Transcript

Hello, and welcome to this course on the OSI Model and TCP/IP protocol suite, where we’re here to help you on your journey to prepare for the AWS Certified Advanced Networking - Specialty certification.

Before we get started, I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Danny Jessee, and I am one of the trainers here at Cloud Academy, specializing in AWS – Amazon Web Services – and AWS certifications. In this course, the AWS team will be presenting a series of lectures that introduce AWS Networking services that may be covered on the exam. Feel free to contact me with any questions using the details shown on the screen, or you can always get in touch with us here at Cloud Academy by sending an email to support@cloudacademy.com, where one of our Cloud experts will reply to your question.

This course has been specifically curated to help you pass the newly updated AWS Certified Advanced Networking - Specialty exam and is ideal for anyone who is looking to learn more about AWS Networking services in preparation for the exam.

The objective of this course is to provide a high-level introduction to the OSI Model and TCP/IP protocol suite, including:

  • OSI and TCP/IP networking models, and
  • Understanding, building, and configuring jumbo frames.

We’ll wrap up the course with an in-depth review of the IPv4 protocol, which is still very important to know for this exam. This includes everything from classless inter-domain routing, or CIDR, to IPv4 reserved addresses, subnetting, and addressing modes such as unicast and multicast.

Together with the other courses in this learning path, we’ll cover all of the key tools, technologies, and concepts from the AWS Certified Advanced Networking - Specialty exam guide and ensure that you are fully prepared to sit this exam.

The AWS Certified Advanced Networking - Specialty certification has been designed for anyone who has experience designing, implementing, and operating complex AWS and hybrid networking architectures. Ideally, you’ll also have some exposure to the nuances of AWS networking, particularly with respect to the integration of AWS services, as well as AWS security best practices. Many exam questions will require an advanced level of knowledge for many AWS services, including AWS networking services. All of the AWS Cloud concepts introduced in this course will be explained and reinforced from the ground up.
