Transcript

Hello and welcome to Planning SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business Migrations. My name is Lee Mucciarone, and I'm a Microsoft 365 Content Creator for Cloud Academy. I have four years of IT experience working for Microsoft, with two years of specialized experience as a customer training specialist training users on Microsoft tools. Today I'm going to take you through planning migration to SharePoint and OneDrive in Microsoft 365. Now more than ever, organizations are looking for easier and more cost-effective ways of managing their environment.

The need for additional resources and the ease of access to those resources are becoming much more sought after, as more and more users are working from home rather than an office. This is where migrating to a cloud solution like Microsoft 365 can be incredibly beneficial for organizations. Now, migrating an entire organization to any solution can be a stressful and time-consuming process. The benefits of swapping over to the fully cloud-based Microsoft 365 can greatly outweigh the hesitation of going through the migration process.

Organizations can even utilize a hybrid scenario with your existing on-premises setup combined with Microsoft cloud services to bridge the gap between on-premises services and going full cloud with an M365. Luckily, migrating to Microsoft 365 is made a bit easier as Microsoft provides tools and support for organizations looking to migrate. Before we get too deep into the details, let's look at what we're going to be covering in this course. Today, we'll be going over the steps for planning a migration to SharePoint and OneDrive in Microsoft 365, the best practices when migrating to SharePoint and OneDrive in Microsoft 365, the different options for the migration process, the tools and resources available to you when migrating to SharePoint and OneDrive in M365, and various considerations when planning a migration. With that covered, let's start off with the Microsoft suggested steps to see where organizations should start.

Lee has spent most of his professional career learning as much as he could about PC hardware and software while working as a PC technician with Microsoft. Once covid hit, he moved into a customer training role with the goal to get as many people prepared for remote work as possible using Microsoft 365. Being both Microsoft 365 certified and a self-proclaimed Microsoft Teams expert, Lee continues to expand his knowledge by working through the wide range of Microsoft certifications.
