Hello, and welcome to Microsoft Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals. The focus of this learning path is to prepare you for Microsoft’s SC-900 exam. However, even if you don't plan to take the exam, these courses will help familiarize you with the fundamentals of security, compliance, and identity across cloud-based and related Microsoft services.
My name is Thomas Mitchell, and I’m a Microsoft 365 and Azure instructor at Cloud Academy.
The SC-900 exam tests your knowledge of four key subject areas. You’ll be expected to be able to describe various Microsoft security, compliance, and identity concepts, and you’ll need to be able to describe the different capabilities of Microsoft’s identity and access management solutions. In addition, you’ll need to be able to describe the various capabilities of the different Microsoft security and compliance solutions.
This learning path has been designed to align closely with the published learning objectives covered by the SC-900 exam. Therefore, we’ll teach you about different security and compliance concepts & methodologies and about important identity concepts as they relate to Microsoft’s products.
We’ll look at the basic identity services and identity types of Azure AD, the authentication capabilities of Azure AD, and its access management capabilities. We’ll also cover the identity protection and governance capabilities of Azure AD as well.
As you move through the learning path, you’ll learn about the basic security and management capabilities of Azure, the security capabilities of Microsoft Sentinel, and the threat protection capabilities of Microsoft 365 Defender. You’ll also learn about the security management capabilities of Microsoft 365 and about endpoint security via Microsoft Intune.
We’ll also dive into the compliance management capabilities in Microsoft, the information protection and governance capabilities of Microsoft 365, the insider risk capabilities in Microsoft 365, eDiscovery and auditing in Microsoft 365, and last but not least, we’ll look at the resource governance capabilities in Azure.
Completing all courses in this learning path will allow you to learn the skills necessary to sit the SC-900 exam.

Tom is a 25+ year veteran of the IT industry, having worked in environments as large as 40k seats and as small as 50 seats. Throughout the course of a long an interesting career, he has built an in-depth skillset that spans numerous IT disciplines. Tom has designed and architected small, large, and global IT solutions.
In addition to the Cloud Platform and Infrastructure MCSE certification, Tom also carries several other Microsoft certifications. His ability to see things from a strategic perspective allows Tom to architect solutions that closely align with business needs.
In his spare time, Tom enjoys camping, fishing, and playing poker.
