Description

Networks are a key component of any cloud infrastructure. Managing and maintaining networks takes place at each of the layers in the OSI model from the low-level bits on the medium up to the application layer. Each layer must be configured and adapted to match the task at hand and each cloud has its own mechanisms and configuration options.

The content in this learning path will teach you about the topic of Managing and Maintaining Networks for Operations to a Level 1.

Learning Objectives

  • Be able to troubleshoot connectivity between systems using commands such as pin, telnet, curl
  • Be able to determine port status on servers
  • Be able to measure and describe network performance and latency
  • Be able to establish and maintain HTTP/S connectivity between systems and components
  • Have an understanding of LANs and IP addressing, eg CIDR blocks
  • Be able to analyze routing tables and trace network traffic between distributed systems
  • Be able to support and maintain AWS VPC networking setups
  • Be able to support and maintain Azure vNet networking setups
  • Be able to support and maintain GCP VPC networking setups
  • Be able to describe the OSI and TCP networking layers in the context of a production system
