This course explores EC2 Image Builder, a service designed to help automate the creation and updating of images for your EC2 instance. So if you want to understand how to build and maintain secure EC2 images, you're in the right place!
Learning Objectives
- Build and define a pipeline for creating your EC2 images
- Validate and test your pipeline
Intended Audience
- DevOps engineers or solutions architects that deal with fleet management or any type of image lifecycling
Prerequisites
To get the most out of this course, you should already have experience using Amazon EC2.
If your architecture requires up-to-date and robust AMIs or Container images, that need any amount of setup or preconfiguration, I think the EC2 image builder might be a great addition to your workflow.
The service provides a strong image creation pipeline that handles all of the basics: like creation, validation, and testing of your new images. This process is handled through an easy-to-use graphical user interface, comes with prebuilt AWS managed components, and allows you to author your own components in YAML.
Overall I'd say if you do not have a pipeline already in place, that helps you deal with these types of devOps-esque problems of image creation, the EC2 image builder might be a good starting service to look at. If you have your own custom pipeline created, and it's doing everything you need already, and you understand it well enough, I might stick with that however.
