A Brief Interview with Austen Collins

I would like to share the last few minutes of the webinar, during which Austen Collins and I discussed the past and the long-term vision of the Serverless Framework. The project’s community keeps growing and its scope now covers way more than just AWS Lambda.

Austen told us about the very early days of serverless computing, when Lambda was initially released, and all the problems he faced that gave him the motivation to work on such an ambitious project. Then API Gateway was launched too and he started working on the framework, first by himself and then with the increasing help of an excited and active community, including both contributors and happy users.
The company recently received its first funding round and with it the resources necessary to grow an entirely remote engineering team.

At least 20 Fortune 500 companies and hundreds of startups are already using version zero of the framework and the team is announcing a first alpha version of v1.

I am personally looking forward to the Serverless Framework v1 and its new Azure Functions and Google Cloud Functions support.
