Introducing Assessment Cycles

Today, cloud technology platforms and best practices around them move faster than ever, resulting in a paradigm shift for how organizations onboard and train their employees. While assessing employee skills on an annual basis might have sufficed a decade ago, the reality is that organizations need an ongoing view of their organization’s capabilities.

Cloud Academy’s platform embodies this new paradigm, offering continuously updated knowledge and assessments around Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and other cloud ecosystem solutions. But effective training and meaningful skill acquisition means going beyond just consuming and completing curriculum. With an understanding that assessment must occur on a regular basis, we set out to close the gap.

Assessment Cycles are exam-driven modules designed to help organizational leadership understand the skills and capabilities of individuals either in the onboarding stage or as a part of the ongoing assessment. Available currently for AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud, these assessments are 30 minutes each and meant to guide the assignment of Training Plans and strategize an overall training strategy.

Furthermore, Assessment Cycles are tied into Skill Profiles, a feature we launched earlier this summer to provide organizations with a visualization of their team’s cloud competencies. Upon completion of an Assessment Cycle, a user’s Skill Profile is populated with the skills associated with their Assessment score, allowing for more focused and strategic training.

To assign an Assessment Cycle:

  1. Log in to your Cloud Academy account
  2. Select ‘Assessments’ from the Management drop-down menu in the top right-hand corner
  3. Select ‘New Assessment Cycle’ (the green button)
  4. Identify the Assessment that you would like to assign
  5. Assign the Assessment to the right team. This will send members of that team an email notification.

Once a team completes their Assessment Cycle, leadership can view the results. To see how a team performed:

  1. Log in to your Cloud Academy account
  2. Select ‘Assessments’ from the Management drop-down menu in the top right-hand corner
  3. Select the completed Assessment
