New AWS Indian Region, Cloud Academy Sponsor of the AWS India Summit

Today, AWS has announced the general availability of its new India region, which should come as no surprise to any avid cloud engineer. In mid-2015, AWS stated they were planning on a 2016 launch and today, just over 12 months since that statement, the region is now live. With AWS CEO Andy Jassy, VP of Commercial Sales Mike Clayville and VP of Worldwide Public Sector Teresa Carlson in Mumbai for the first of the AWS Indian Summits tomorrow we can only imagine the customer announcements that will be made during the Summit, however we are not expecting any major product announcements (as normal it is expected these will be made at re:invent (28th Nov – 2nd Dec)).

Why AWS’s Move into India is Important for the Industry

AWS is not a new concept to India with its set of early adopters harnessing and driving cloud usage in the country for many years. From startups (Practo) to media groups (NDTV, Novi Digital, The Hindu Group) to major education groups (Manipal Global) to large automotive groups (Tata Motors Limited), Indian users have been leveraging AWS’s power and flexibility for many years. However, with a local regional footprint, heavily regulated industries like banking, insurance & financial services, the massive Indian public sector and oil & gas can now theoretically start to consume AWS offerings. In addition to these developments, we expect to see general market growth due to the enhanced local services and also many groups requiring lower latency such as game developers.

How Cloud Academy Will Help Indian Developers and Companies Adapt to this New and Exciting World

As with all regional expansions, AWS must develop a highly knowledgeable and skilled local technical community. To help drive this process, Cloud Academy is excited to announce an introductory offer for Indian residents to celebrate the launch of the AWS India region.  At Cloud Academy, we strongly believe in a hybrid approach to cloud training which includes a combination of face-to-face training (as provided by AWS) coupled with a continual professional development service like Cloud Academy. It can be hard for organisations to find the time to have their staff out of the office for one to three days on face to face training, for this reason Cloud Academy has provided a purely online continual professional development service that allows people to study when they want, from where they want. This one price provides access to our wide portfolio of content plus a diverse set of learning tools including recorded video workshops to learn from, hands on labs to practice what has been taught, and quizzes to test what has been learned.

Cloud Academy: Sponsor of the AWS India Summit

Cloud Academy is also a proud sponsor of the first AWS Summit for 2016 in Mumbai and we look forward to meeting many of you at our booth S1 on the sponsors floor.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Cloud Academy community!
